About IslandersWear.com

Born and raised in Québec, Canada, Lucie always dreamed of palm trees, white sandy beaches and summer all year around. At a very young age, she knew that one day, she would move away from the cold Canadian winter to a tropical Island.  So, in 1985, with $500.00 in her wallet and very little knowledge of the English language, she packed up her bag and moved to Southern California. In 1997, with her husband and 3 children, she settled in Alameda, California. Not quit a “Tropical Island” but she had found a great island to raise her family. Alameda is a quaint Island located in the San Francisco Bay area, where the sun shines and the wind blows most of the time. Here, kids and grown ups spend most of their time outside: at the beach, at the pool, on the estuary, or on the bay. So, in order to avoid them to leave the Island and site in the traffic, Lucie decided to create I.W. garments to allow “The Alamedans” more time to play comfortably and well protected!

I’m a swim instructor at a local club in Alameda, and over the summer, sometime I spent up to 5 hours in the pool with my students. I always wear a long rash guard since I burn easily. However, most of the RASH GUARD I have used in the past never last, after 2 to 3 weeks in the pool they would get all stretched and transparent. When I found Islanders Wear chlorine resistant and UV50 RASH GUARD I didn’t hesitate to try it.  After 5 weeks of teaching, I was amazed how my RASH GUARD was still looking like new, my skin had not gotten any darker. I am so happy I found Islanders Wear’s RASH GUARDS. Now I make sure I tell my students and fellow instructors about these quality swim wear.

My 10-year-old daughter joined the local swim team and I bought her an   “IslandersWear” training swimsuit. Over the summer she trained 4 to 5 times a week. Also, she spent time at the pool just to play. We bought the suit in June and to this day (end of September), the suit is still holding up. I’m amazed! I went back to buy a swimsuit for my older daughter. I can’t wait to see IslandersWear next year   new line. I am spreading the word between my friend and thank you Lucie for launching your company here in Alameda, our town needs it.

My husband loves his new underwear; he thinks they are the most comfortable underwear he’s ever owned.

Lucie gave me the idea to offer my husband some of her “Dufour” underwear for fathers’ day.   I am glad I did, my husband loved them and he wants to get more!

Wow! When I first dove into the water with my new RACING LEGGING, it felt amazing! Now, I know why they say these suits are made of “revolutionize” fabric. I could definitely feel the difference.

My 4-year-old daughter started swimming lesson over the summer. She has very fair skin so I bought her a body suit to have her skin protected. After 2 weeks of lessons her suit was falling apart. One of my daughter’s classmates also wore a body suit, however; hers still looked like new. I went over to talked to the mom and I asked her when and where she had bought it. She informed me that these suits were available here in my own town and that she had bought the suit 3 weeks prior to our conversation. I asked her if she had noticed any fading or stretching and she replied that the suit was still looking like new.  I wrote down the address and went over there and I bought a new body suit. Amazingly, I paid less than the nylon and spandex body suit we bought at the beginning of the summer. I have to add that “Islanders Wear” colors are super, they bright and vivid and it’s very easy to spot my daughter in the crowd.  Thank you IslandersWear to come up with these cute suits!
